Some holidays stay with you forever, our trip to Mauritius was one of those. Not only was it our first visit to this stunning island in the Indian Ocean, but it was also where we got married and enjoyed the honeymoon of a lifetime.

After spending months researching what felt like every four and five-star resort in Mauritius, we finally chose Dinarobin Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa, nestled beneath the iconic Le Morne Brabant mountain on the island’s south-west coast. Looking back, we couldn’t have made a better decision. From the moment we arrived, we knew we were somewhere special.

First Impressions of Dinarobin

Nothing quite prepares you for your first glimpse of Dinarobin. As we entered the open-air lobby with panoramic views towards the ocean and Le Morne mountain, we both felt genuinely emotional. It was one of those moments where reality exceeded every expectation.

The resort is simply beautiful. Everywhere we looked, the grounds were immaculate. The tropical gardens, swimming pools, beachfront setting, restaurants and communal areas were maintained to the highest standards throughout our stay. Despite its size, the resort never felt crowded and always retained an atmosphere of calm and exclusivity.

Adults Only Zen Suites

For our stay, we booked one of the resort’s Adults-Only Zen Suites, which quickly became our sanctuary. Perfectly positioned near the Butik Bar, the suite offered stunning sea views and unforgettable sunsets, while exclusive access to the heated Zen Pool made the experience even more special. Swimming beneath the towering backdrop of Le Morne mountain was truly surreal and remains one of the highlights of our trip.

The suite itself was spacious, elegant and immaculately maintained throughout our stay. Although some guests describe the rooms as slightly dated, we felt their classic colonial-inspired design perfectly suited the surroundings and added to the resort’s character. The exceptionally comfortable bed, the daily replenished minibar stocked with water, soft drinks and beer, and the consistently excellent housekeeping all combined to make our stay both relaxing and memorable.

The Escape Package

We opted for the resort’s Escape Package (All Inclusive), which proved to be excellent value. The package included breakfast each morning, two-course lunches, afternoon tea, dinner each evening, a daily replenished minibar, and a wide selection of drinks. Although we’re not particularly heavy drinkers, everything we realistically needed was included, and we rarely found ourselves paying for anything additional. The flexibility to dine at both buffet and à la carte restaurants added plenty of variety to our stay, ensuring that no two evenings felt the same.

Hospitality at Another Level

What truly sets Dinarobin apart are the staff. We’ve stayed at some wonderful hotels over the years, but rarely have we encountered a team that consistently delivered such genuine warmth and professionalism.

From breakfast hosts who greeted us each morning with a smile to bar staff who somehow remembered our favourite drinks, every interaction felt personal rather than transactional.

Several members of staff played a particularly memorable role in our stay, including our wedding coordinators, restaurant teams, housekeeping staff and management team. Their attention to detail and genuine desire to make our stay special never went unnoticed.

It’s difficult to put into words just how welcome we felt throughout our time at the resort.

Planning the Perfect Wedding & Honeymoon

Planning a destination wedding from thousands of miles away can feel overwhelming, but thanks to Hannah Edgley at Hays Travel, the entire process was seamless. Her knowledge, responsiveness and support from our initial enquiry through to departure made everything remarkably straightforward, allowing us to look forward to our Mauritian adventure with complete confidence.

Any concerns we had about organising a wedding abroad quickly disappeared once we arrived at Dinarobin. From our very first meeting, our wedding coordinator Trinity, assured us that every detail would be taken care of, and they more than delivered on that promise. Aside from a short, chauffeured trip to Port Louis and Bambous to complete some paperwork, everything was handled for us, making the lead-up to the big day completely stress-free.

When our wedding day arrived, all that remained was to enjoy it. The stunning setting, flawless organisation by Trinity and effortless atmosphere combined to create one of the happiest and most memorable days of our lives.

Our honeymoon was equally special. A couples massage at the Dinarobin Spa provided the perfect opportunity to unwind after months of planning, while lazy afternoons by the pool, sunset beach walks and breathtaking ocean views created an idyllic backdrop for the start of married life.

DINING IN PARADISE

Food was a huge highlight of our stay, with even the main buffet restaurant, L’Harmonie, impressing us every evening through its wide selection of fresh, high-quality dishes and rotating themed nights. Our favourite restaurant was undoubtedly Umami, which we visited twice during our stay, and on both occasions the food, presentation and service were exceptional, creating two of the most memorable dining experiences of our honeymoon.

We also thoroughly enjoyed Dina’s, which combined a wonderful atmosphere with delicious cuisine and is a restaurant we would strongly recommend to anyone staying at the resort (Dina’s has now been replaced with Rangoli which we can’t wait to try when we return). During our stay, we also dined at Blue Marlin and Zest at sister resort Paradis Beachcomber, both of which were very enjoyable. The two resorts share dining interchangeability, giving you access to a total of eight restaurants. However, we found ourselves consistently drawn back to Dinarobin, as it felt quieter, more intimate and generally more exclusive.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Choosing where to get married is one of the biggest decisions you’ll ever make. Looking back, we can say without hesitation that choosing Dinarobin Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.

The stunning setting located at the foot of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Le Morne Brabant Mountain, luxurious accommodation, exceptional food, world-class hospitality and flawless wedding coordination combined to create an experience that exceeded every expectation.

Mauritius was already a dream destination for us. Dinarobin turned it into something even more special. It wasn’t simply a holiday, it was the beginning of our married life together, and we honestly couldn’t imagine a more beautiful place for that journey to begin.
